Re: Peeling lips nightmare

Yes I would agree CNM. I found the new skin was crinkly and very delicate.

I have symptoms very similar to rhinitis as you describe. A coarse dryness in the nasal passage which was very uncomfortable and random intense sneezing. I've only ever been patch tested for contact chemicals and not airborne allergies like dust. The test picked up a few sensitivites to common substances found in cosmetics like balsam of peru and sandalwood oil. I avoided exposure to these substances but still found my nose issues continued.

I've always suffered from drymouth and extreme thirst. At the moment I'm seeing a endocrinologist. They found I have low FSH (follicule stimulating hormone) and SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin). I've yet to have a semen analysis. I think this is an avenue worth exploring.

My other skin issues:

1) lichen sclerosus of the foreskin (lifelong)
2) perioral dermatitis around the folds of the nose, chin, eyebrows, ears and head
3) Psoriasis on head.
4) perianal itch (lichen sclerosus)

A recent nutrition test showed me low in vitamin b12, b9 (folic acid), magnesium and zinc, so I'm supplementing all of these. My nutritionist also found citrobacter freundii which I'm taking a herbal protocol for. She believed a lot of my gastroissues are/were caused from this. The herbs are uva ursi and tanalbit.

I'm thinking it may be possible that this bad bacterial infection lead to leaky gut type SIBO issues and so a lot of toxins are dumped into the blood stream causing a histamine reaction and subsequent skin problems. I cannot say for certain though but it would be a good thing to rule out. I'm in week 6 of an 8 week herbal protocol.

Once the citrobacter is eliminated next comes prebiotics/probiotics etc.

Kutiyoung, I don't think it has to be natural so long as it is paraben and sulphate free; this goes for soap as well, also alcohol, as it is very drying. It may take a few attempts before you find a paste that works. I would think if it is labelled as natural it will not contain SLS, as that is known to be a common irritant with a lot of people. You must research.

I think perhaps it may be worth floating the possibility that a contact irritant may generate enough of a histamine response in the body to cause an allergic-like reaction similar to that of pollen or mould.

Most importantly :

1) shampoo - sulphate and paraben free
2) soaps and toothpaste - sulphate and paraben free

This is important to get right. Then move onto addressing gut dysbiosis issues commonly caused from Antibiotics that you took. They completely wipe out good as well as bad gut flora hence why they say one of the side effects is thrush because good bacteria is what keeps thrush (candida) in check and stops it from overgrowing. Steroid creams are not the answer. I have used them. They didn't work for me.
