I believe I may have exfoliative cheilitis caused from hot sauce burns. Ok to explain what happened about 5 or so years I, like an idiot, fell asleep while eating hot wings... My peeling lips were from trauma. I think they were going to heal back the right way until I tried some ”cures” from this site many years back. They havent healed that way since. I stumbled upon some studies saying too much Vit A can cause Cheilitis (and Exfoliative Cheilitis).. Also because so many people on Accutane get really chapped lips and Accutane is very similar to Vitamin A. This is interesting cause I don’t hear a lot of people with EC talk about redness after eating. I’ve always thought it had something to do with the food I was eating rather than just being eczema. I can eat pretty much any amount of fruit n veg and get little to no reaction which is why I thought it was food related somehow. Hi, I got denied, their reasoning was they arnt allowed when I know for a fact they are, its probably seen as too risky for them. I saw the leading dermatologist for ec and she told me the laser will destroy the skin. So that has kind of put me off. I saw the leading doctor for ec im the UK. It was expensive but she told me its eczema on the lip. She told me to use corsodyl mouth wash and peroxyl 2 times a day, and also use protopic 0.1% cream I am not ”cured” by any means as its not just the peeling, and Its been 2 weeks. I also have fordyce spots on my upper lip which the only way for that is co2 laser, I have inflammation and redness when I eat that hasn’t gone, long term use of protopic should apparently help that. So, as you might know, once you hit the 90 day mark (12 weeks), instead of taking an injection every two weeks, you start taking one every month. I tried to add fruits to my diet several times since 2013. it was a disaster, I was more tired. I understood I had to ban fruits. I can’t eat even one apple. This study mentions that after a while, the scaling and Fordyce spots would return less and less until it stopped completely after a few sessions that spanned about a year I think. I assume the picture was no the end result though and probably just after the first session. I have a 2nd consultation with 2 private dermatologists in 1 month to dicuss this. And if it goes ahead, they will try a small patch to reduce the risk of scaring while knowing if it had an effect.   [End]
