Earth Wisdom Keepers
I met at the 90th Birthday Party
of Peter Dukich, the master
BioDynamic Gardener and
Compost Maker.
I feel compelled to help
through spreading the word
and practicing what they know.
I am working with photo images
from Petery Dukich’s 90th birthday party
of some of the remaining
Earth Wisdom Keepers who are
still among us.
I am deeply moved.
When I imagine what I would like
to leave to the earth,
what I would like to contribute
in the next twenty years,
I feel a mandate
to help spread the word

Meditating on the New Me
My feet are like the feet of ducks,
webbed, touching the earth broadly,
expansively.
I am sure-footed.
I’m feeling solid inside me.
Through the bottoms of my feet,

sending out footnotes, radiating earth presence.

Building Biodynamic Compost
Building a Biodynamic Pile
is like building a ”Birthday Cake” --for the Earth.
There are the ingredients that are in different piles...
greens...grass, etc
straw,
cow manure..
food scrapes...veggies and fruits only,
no meat, etc.
You sprinkle the layers of the cake and keep repeating and watering.
The actual building often takes place as a community activity
involving numbers of hands. IT sits about four or more months.

When I was in College
at Cal State Northridge back in ’71,
I had a profound experience
that shaped me.
I wrote up this story for one of my forthcoming
Plant Your Dream Books.
To share a part of that story,
I lived a block from the School.
NO One spoke. We did not live as neighbors.
I did not know a single
person at the complex.
I wonder how natural a human condition
this was.
Most of us were College Students.

filled with love and support because

his entire life.

and stay at home.
Gratefully, I did some wonderful
gardening with Rachel and her Cousin
Anthony late yesterday afternoon.
We simplified and made sweet a
little area in view of the kitchen window.
We recycled the soil in a lot of little pots.
We put some other plants in the ground.
We took away the leaves and fed the
nectarine some 40 year old compost
and kelp supplement.

Zvi. This is what he taught me.
This is what I am asking of you...
I spent some time late afternoon
yesterday with Zvi, a very sweet Jewish Orthodox
man of 26. I went to the local Synagogue down
the street for the final service of the Shabbat.
I time my arrival during what is called the Third Meal.
It is kind of a social hour before the Sun goes now.
I like to nibble at some of the foods they put out,
although they make me fall asleep.
After the service, Zvi and I spent a litle time
in the Library there.

a dream that left me with more questions

There were no answers on the surface.

Sherril’s passing.
