It is your lips, your call !
by White Shark 7 y
You can find several biopsy stories on this page:
https://www.curezone.org/forums/s2.asp?f=403&c=19&ob=v
So far, in the 10 + years of this forum, nobody, not a single person has ever come back after biopsy and reported:
”I am so happy I took that biopsy! It has helped me cure my lips.”
I may be mistaken, so if I am, and if you actually know of such a story, please share the link with us !!!
In the same time, dozens, if not hundreds have come back and regretted biopsy, many reported about having one more ugly scar on their lips!
Here is one example:

sirpes the problem is the docs said maybe my biopsy results would be different if i didnt recently put aldera on as aldera actually can manipulate the cells for weeks.
so im going to get another biopsy in a few months if i decide to get another one whihc i highly doubt. im so tired of ec both physically and mentally. its drained and ruined my life!!!!!!!!.
i use to literally bouce out of bed these days with ec i cringe at the thought of getting out of bed. its very sad!!!!!!!!!
so i still believe if there is going to be a solid answer it will come out of a biopsy result like lilo. ...

Re: Biopsy of salivary gland planned in 2 weeks
RN WARNING by lampwick 15 y
I had a biopsy done over 3 years ago and I still have a huge scar that’s way worse than peeling lips ever were. It’s a hard, discolored, partially numb lump of scar tissue and I can still see the cut lines. And the biopsy didnt even reveal the reasons for my lip problems. After that I looked over the peeling lips forums for biopsy results and no one has ever discovered the cause of their peeling lips from a biopsy. A biopsy will only make things worse.

Quick heads up on my biopsy

I just got an email from my derm about my biopsy results. She says that it looks most likely like atopic eczema / neurodermatitis.. but there is no definite diagnosis, as I would have thought. Also I’m not sure what she now thinks about treating it and if psoriasis is completely out of the question. I guess it isn’t. And they might have similar treatments (at least regarding topical ointments).
In her email she’s also talking about a possible ”viral inflammation/infection” (not sure if that’s just another guess or if that’s actually something that she saw from the biopsy result) and her ...

Yeah I removed it about one week ago with no really improvement since. Also I’ve decided to not sleep with the ’gutter teeth’ during night to see if there would be a change, even if I’m not truthfully convinced LOL but it costs nothing so I give it a try, in the meantime, before getting my biopsy results.
At least, I can say that my mouth is just totally and perfectly clean, never had caries, amalgams, no stranger element in it!

Who on this forum has actually had laser surgery done? My doctor at Mayo Clinic is consulting with another doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to determine if he thinks laser surgery could be helpful based on all the tests he’s run, biopsy results, etc.
I was just curious to hear from people who have actually had it done, not somebody to tell me it’s a stupid idea and I should just lick my lips constantly.

However, the BUT, was that my stupid biopsy results need to be back, so he could make sure there weren’t any underlying causes etc. He was willing to do a biopsy on the day and I’d get it back tomorrow, but I couldn’t go through the torture again, so ill wait 2 weeks to get the results.

Yea, I wouldn’t get overly excited. You might fall down into a deep hole if our or your symptoms are caused from a different root cause, which it very well might.
I mailed my derm asking about testing for it. The biopsy result said something like ”the histology could fit into a virus infect”. My blood was tested for viruses, but it seems like the HPV tests weren’t done (even though it says ”negative” on the result sheet, somewhat confusing). And it might not be found in the blood but just if you look for it in a biopsy specifically.

Hey, are you saying they found you have candida? If so, do they know the particular strain or are they still waiting for biopsy results? I have candida so this could be my cause as well. Do they think EC is more caused by a virus or candida?

Sorry for the 4 year bump.
I’ve had my biopsy results return and I have the same result. The diagnosis from the pathologist who examined the biopsy says ”lip mucinosis”.
When I asked my dermatologist what the hell that is she described something like the reticular erythematous mucinosis. Apparently it’s quite rare and tomorrow I’ll be going to be examined by a group of doctors who will decide how it should be treated at the same hospital.
Apparently it’s quite rare.

I live in Germany and have started to contact a ”centre for rare diseases”, which we have a few of in Germany. Many people on here have seen staph in their biopsy results, including me.
Everyone I have read of, and me, have treated it with an antibiotic and nothing has changed.
Supporting most derm’s hypothesis that any infection is most likely secondary, and due to the lack of hygiene of our lips and the hyperkeratosis being an ideal spot for infection.
If this was staph then it would be a relatively easy fix.
My staph was cultured and found not to be antibiotic resistant and I was prescribed an antibiotic based on the results of the culture. And it did nothing.

There was some white fluid underneath, which is probably one of the things that’s smelling. I will take it with me to my derm today. It could be some sort of fungal/bacterial build up, but it might just be water that came inside from the side (the crust was lifted up a little on the side) and then couldn’t get out. ”Although psoriasis is characteristically a skin condition, some clinicians believe it may uncommonly manifest on the lips, tongue, palate, buccal mucosa, and gingiva. A higher frequency of fissured tongue occurs in patients with psoriasis. The following 3 findings are suggestive of oral psoriasis:

I think the presence of inflammation is a key, however, we’ve seen people with peeling lips get biopsy results that show no inflammation -- therefore, either we need to accept that the same symptom can be expressed without inflammation and our nomenclature is faulty, or we need to present a new name -- i.e., labial hyperkeratinization.
