Invisible: raw food feeding questions for dog
Hey Invisible--
I've checked your blog and there's a lot of neat info but there some questions I haven't been able to have answered.
The first is:
1. how many eggs can I feed a dog per day/week? What's the info on this? I feed my dog (93 lb rottie) one to two eggs a day as a snack or over fruit.
2. I've switched him over to chicken since it has less fat than beef, though I still supplement with 2-3
pounds of beef marrow bones a week. How many
pounds of chicken should he be at? Rawmeatybones.com ebook stated that one percent of a larger dogs body weight (and 2-3 percent of a smaller dogs body weight) of meaty bones a day was sufficient. I also understood it (I can't crosscheck because now they're charging for the ebooks) to say that these meaty bones could make up 70% of the diet...except when I did this I think there was too much calcium and it made him constipated. So, now with 4-5 pound chickens cut in half...is this sufficient? I figure he's getting the same amount pound-wise as conventional dog food, if not more...when it's supposed to be the opposite. He's not gained or lost weight, but he'll just continue to eat what I give him (or try to steal food from people/other animals.)
Is this a nutritional behavior (he needs more food/needs more time to get used to RAW diet --he's been on for almost a month) or is this just an obedience training thing where a dog will just go after other food and act like a selfish little pig but it has nothing to do with hunger?
