Hi Hanna, Chenodeoxycholic acid is rarely used anymore, as its' side effects are considerable and ursodeoxycholic acid is much safer and more effective. There have been some relatively recent studies attempting to assess the efficacy of cheno combined with urso in dissolving gallstones. The results were that while the combo was only slightly more effective than urso alone, the side effects were considerable with the combination. Tweet
