frank jerome believes crowning a tooth does not allow the tooth to naturally clean itself, and i believe this, too. but, most dentists do not share his beliefs. surprisingly, crowns have a fairly good success record over all. people can request inlays/onlays if they wish, but finding a dentist who will do them instead of crowns is quite a different story if a lot of tooth structure is gone or will need to be removed.
