Re: What are the best/healthiest Replacement Fillings to get?

ceramic fillings are inlays or onlays.  they are indirect fillings.  they are not recommended unless you have a large filling.  composites are best for small to medium fillings in order to preserve tooth structure.  they have direct fillings now that can last up to 22 years.  yes, indirect fillings are considered a permanent restoration and can last 20 years and longer.  some people opt to have extra tooth structure drilled out in order to get permanent restorations so they don't have to relace fillings as much, but it is up to them.

Degussa contains metals like all the other blocks.  it is the adhesives that contain the chemicals.  but, degussa is ceramic and indirect, which are far more costly than composites and more tooth structure has to be removed unless it is already missing or needs to be drilled out.  but, diamondlite and diamond crown are less toxic than degussa.  degussa also contains aluminum in the block and diamond claims to burn the metals off, but i have never read that about degussa.  plus, the adhesives used by dentsply with degussa have more of the toxic chemicals than the diamondbond.  i listed them.  you cannot just look at the block.  the blocks are the metals.  the adhesives have the chemicals.
