If vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is what is giving the Iodine molecule the negatively charged ion, then isn't it the acid part of the vit. C molecule that is doing this? And if so, then can't stomach acid, or any acid for that matter, do the same thing? So don't ALL forms of Iodine ingested become Iodide ions once they hit the stomach?
