Invincible, thank you. After reading your reply, I wish I was in the UK. Here in the states, only a few states have a law against tethering.
We have a relationship with the owners, but only superficial. They don't care about the dog, or their other one, either. They're only for guard dogs. The first one was allowed to roam free when she was a puppy, then surprise, she decided not to come back. Then she was tied up. When the new one came (the one I'm writing about), they were alternately tied up, and allowed to roam the yard (we're in the country - it's more than an acre). When they got some goats and chickens, the dogs were tied up for good. The first dog is let go in the yard occasionally, not very often, though. She's the main guard dog.
The ACV sounds great; I will remember that. I wish I could get to her bowl, or be able to reason with the people. I would love to get the plastic chain you speak of - again, to no avail.
