Do you think she might have been trying to be conservative when she said it might take years? Otherwise, I would be concerned, too, because it may be that she hasn't been very successful at doing electrolysis effectively. Unless you can find someone who is very effective in using electrolysis, there really is little reason to go that route because the hairs will just keep growing back.

One way you could test this is to ask her to do a smaller area on your face every once in a while and see how it goes. It would be less of an investment and you could tell over time if it's working for you before having to make any major commitment of going through a more extensive electrolysis treatment. I do think it's still worth thinking about because you'll be waxing for the rest of your life, and waxing can be even more painful than electrolysis because all of the hairs are pulled at once.
