Good point about the bioavailability. The very best magnesium based laxatives are the least bioavailable. The magnesium that cannot be absorbed draws water into the bowel so it can be flushed from the body. That influx of fluid works to soften the fecal matter and clears the colon. While the Swanson Colon Tone does contain vitamin C, I believe that several glasses of lemon water (or lemonade sweetened with Stevia) help to further soften the hardened mucus and plaque that lines the colon wall in some people.

My Naturopath suggested that I might have Leaky Gut because I seem to have trouble absorbing nutrients. I was never formally diagnosed, but I have come to believe that Doc may have been correct and I'm finally trying to deal with the problem as simply and naturally as possible.
