Be light and breezy now!

Been thinking about this since reading these posts because we have two hummingbird feeders and one oriole feeder, all full of 'sugar water'. What would be a good substitute for the sugar water do you think? Real maple syrup and water? I want to get suggestions and try them out. Also, does the water really have to be made red?
