Re: Protein Digestion?
I wouldn't say I was a healthy child - I became vegetarian after my dad told my all the horror stories of his chopping the heads off of chickens while he lived on his family farm. My entire family ate (and still eats) junk food, so my mom substituted my not eating meat for cheese pizza, white pasta and peanut butter sandwiches. My mom doesn't cook, so everything came from a package. Ate a lot of crackers. I actually only started eating vegetables 2 years ago after my naturopath made me (I've grown to love them now), before then my only vegetables were tomato sauce! I became raw just haphazardly, when cooked food started making me feel sick about a year ago. Plus I heard it can heal acne, which is attractive to me. My main problems were an over acidic condition from a poor childhood diet, candida/
parasite overgrowth, lots of stress and a gallbladder problem.
I'm very slight... small boned (though not particularly short, just narrow) and underweight. I'm prone to gas and bloating, sometimes constipation if I eat the wrong foods, and I get cold very easily. I'm fair skinned as well. I've had dark circles under my eyes, since I was about 13.
I find I digest better if I blend everything (ie. blend fruits into a sauce and eat with a spoon instead of chewing them), or chop it into teeny pieces or juice, then the work is done for my body. I find I need to drink lots of pineapple juice everyday for the enzymes or I feel ill and like I'm "missing" something. I know my digestion is partly bad due to stress, I carry my stress in my stomach.
I can get sprouted lentils and beans from an organic store nearby, is this sort of thing okay? I'm not familiar with soaking nuts, I'll have to look it up. Are nut butters out then in this regard?
Thank you for your help!!
