Protein Digestion?

I've had trouble digesting protein for about a year... I'm vegetarian, raw to be specific. I've been veggie for about 10 years, transitioning into raw for perhaps a year, year and a half.

My stomach gets all "heavy" when I eat protein (nuts, hemp, nut butters - all of these raw) and I tend to feel sick for a few days afterwards. Two days ago I ate a raw food bar (LaraBar) that contained nuts and my bowels just clogged up completely and I felt terribly ill. I've been juice fasting and am starting to feel better. What's wrong with me?! Is my body not producing enough Hydrochloric Acid or something? Am I missing something from my diet? How can I fix this? I already take digestive enzymes, which help a bit but not enough to make protein comfortable to consume.

Thank you for your help!!
