Re: Hair Loss
I haven't posted for awhile. I had the Mirena removed about 2 months ago, so if you want to read my posts, they are back in Feb/March. I had a long list of symptoms for the 9 months that I had Mirena. I definately lost alot of hair. Everytime I showered my fingers would be entangled in lots of hair. I watched clumps of it hit the drain. I would clog the drain once after shampooing and again after cream rinse. It's hard to explain to anyone what that does to a woman unless you experience it yourself. I am sooo thin in the front of my head from ear to ear. I'm thankful that I have long, curly thick hair, but I've lost a considerable amount. Like I said it's been 2 months since removal (Mirena) and there is no regrowth yet. I still lose some, but not nearly the amount that was coming out.
I had a check up with my doctor yesterday as she wants to see if any of the side effects are permanent. I am lucky to have a doctor that is truly concerned. I pointed out to her how much it bothers me that the Mirena brochures do not tell you all the side effects. When I started having symptoms I called her to ask if it could be the Mirena and she assured me that it was not. She said to go back and read the literature she gave me. None of my symptoms were on their brochures. So I went through 9 months of really thinking I was sick. Now I found if you go to a Levonorgestrel (sp) site, the hormone in Mirena, well, there are all the side effects listed. Why aren't they on the Mirena brochures? I'm sure they don't want to scare us out of getting the Mirena.
I do believe that we are a small percentage of Mirena users that have negative side effects, but I want to know that when someone does have health problems after insertion, that it is recognized and the Mirena is immediately questioned.
