Re: Hair Loss

I've had the Mirena IUD since 8/04. I did have all of the side effects mentioned in the brochure. At the time I had started a new job in which I had taken a picture ID. Needless to say, my hair looks nothngin like it did on that picture. It's so so thin, it's embarrasing and humiliating. I have been noticing over the last 2 years hair loss and I kept trying to link it to the IUD because regardless of what the brochure states, it's still birth control. At that time, still there was no admittance or publications stating that hair loss was a risk. Now I'm thinking about removing it and whether I should get another one, and it occured to me that this would happen again, and I don't have enough hair left to supplement another shedding. It doesn't shed as bad as it did at first. Once it does its dirt it's done, as the hormone starts simmering down and your body starts responding it's best to the hormone. However, I'm sure with a new one (IUD) it will start all over again.
what's upsetting is that, at the time I was so interested in finding out if the IUD being the culprit, there was hardly any support from forums or chat rooms other then a few women here and there, so I thought maybe my hair loss was because of my divorce.
Now, I know better, and it really concerns me, because I want a good birth control that won't be so damaging.
