M -- here's my old post re: meds.
A while back I stumbled upon pretty old post by apxr. I'll try to find it again. It was a long thread - someone about to take Albendazole. Apxr reccommended dosing it really slowly to start and then hit it hard with a large dose. I'll look around for it. Do a search on CZ on all the meds - you'll find interesting testimony.
I was first prescribed 2/200mg (twice a day) for two days - wait two weeks, repeat. Did that. Spoke to doc - I had noticed great improvements the few days after each dose - but by the time I spoke with doc things were getting back to same old, but not as bad. She then prescribed 2 pills for ten days, wait two weeks, repeat.
She later put me on one dose of Praz, one day of 6 pills at 600mg each.
Wait two weeks - do it again.
I'm alternating now the Alb and the Praz. I want to have her prescribe Ivermectin - after much research. Then I discovered it is widely used for treating animals (most often horses). Believe it or not, however, Heatguard (for dogs) is Ivermectin. The "brown" box is tablets. (Need to go through my searches from yesterday to be certain, though.) So I got to thinking....
Found a grain and feed store locally which sells Ivermectin (referred by Pet Supermarket - salesperson claimed they did not carry Ivermectin but g and f place did - didn't check the Heartworm out but should have). Will be checking them all out tomorrow. Not sure where I'm going with this, but I am pretty certain that some of my 'sites are a species of Filariasis - which is treated only by Ivermectin. It's also the Rx that is systemic - which I need.
But I STILL do NOT reccommend you get any pharms w/out a doctor just yet. Quite honestly - if I was in your position, I'd get the UZ before any drugs. The price for the zapper is MUCH less than the cost of the drugs. You will need more than one round - and I'm not convinced that the drugs are "all that" yet. Example: the Praziquantal ONE DAY supply costs 104.00 US. In two rounds, you will have spend what you would to purchase a zapper.
I ordered the UZ today. Once I try it out I will be in a much better position to establish judgment.
What kind of prices are you finding for Albendazole? PLEASE read up on the drug. Some say it's non-toxic, others say it is. Or maybe that's Ivermectin. I forget. Just research these things if you decide to take any. It's your liver that concerns me. Doc told me that I PROBABLY have an enlarged liver from the parasites. I do not know how to detect liver pain, or distinguish it from all the other abdominal nonsense I deal with - sometimes painful.
