Re: Abused during Ayurvedic massage in India
Dear Emma
I'm not even sure you will read this, or if it is even a relevant issue for you anymore, but it occurred to me to say, "Ask him about it". If his intent is good, then he will be able to talk about it. If he thinks that he is giving these women some kind of healing, then he should be able to talk about that, if he is as good a teacher as you say.
However, it sounds like he is doing it for his own gratification, and that he is at some level ashamed of himself, which is why he does not talk about it. This could be me being judgmental, though. I am not there, I cannot know .
If he means well, then, he should be open and explain to these women first, that this might happen. When sexual touching happens in a situation where it is unexpected, then soemtimes people comply because they are too shocked to push back, or because they are in awe of the other person's reputation, or because they are not sure if this is part of the treatment, or perhaps because they are grateful to be given a healing massage by somebody with power, or because they think this is healing, and they have told themselves they want to heal. Then afterwards, they are ashamed that they allowed it to happen. They regret that they did not stop it at the time, and blame themselves. This man, if he is indeed a healer, and if his intent is good, should be able to discuss this with you, his co-author, and his patients. Especially as there may be psychological damage to the clients involved.
To get wierd on you, this can be explained in energies, but then it is all about intent. If the client later feels that he has stolen energy from her, then this is wrong. We all ahve the choice to walk away, but people come for healing, because they have not learnt to use their power. For him to use any kind of energy healing, the client must be allowed to ask to stop whenever they want, because healing is their choice. This must be made clear. It is for the healer to give the power to the client, and make the client aware of thier own power. This is true healing. It would be useless for a healer to try to heal someone who did not want to heal. For a healer to continue in a situation where consent is not really there would be abuse, and the healer's true intent comes into question.
They act then not out of compassion, but out of ego or self-glorification
