If all of these words are positively affirmed by the participants and the law of the land, then their's is a 'no harm no foul situation'. If this is not the case, then each issue has to be addressed accordingly.
As for your situation, perception is reality. You can change your perception or your reality. The choice is yours. You have a voice, use it with him. Disclose your feelings, withhold your consent, and point out the legality to him in your personal situation. If he is in truth 'this teacher is excellent' then that is all that should be necessary. And a smart man would cover his but with a change in policy, and some clarification of his services.
But, keep in mind, you may still not be satisfied with the outcome, and you will then have to decide to ACT in accord with your own beliefs, and that usually requires a great deal of courage. Prepare.
