I hesitate to say anything but gotta share my experience so that in case you also have it happen to YOU, you will at least be prepared.
Be prepared to be shocked. Prepare yourself that they "hand the batterer everything on a silver platter" and treat you like $#*+.
There. I've said it. The absolutely unbelievable can happen in court. He, the batterer, can walk out of there without so much as a slap on the wrist and the judge (in my case, a woman) can look at you like you are a cockroach. SHE was just..........to this DAY............almost ten years later..........there are just no words for her. I am still traumatized by what she did. Judges can feel, act and sound like "God in their own courts". It is a syndrome all its own, of sorts.
As a legal secretary (ex)....I wasn't prepared. I went seeking justice and came out licking enormous wounds. PRAY about the judge you get!
