Re: GMO Discussion
"You got it all wrong, it was the other way around."
I do not think so... history shows whistle blowers before the journal articles. In fact, you can do this with most everything we are discussing. The same is true with
Genetically-Modified-Organisms today and is happening before our eyes. I do not understand why you choose to bury your head in the sand, but that is your choice.
"The information that was brought forth in these journals changed the public perception of what was happening."
For the general population AND through media I would agree with you, however, there is a long history of understanding leading up to this that most people are unaware of as it is out of the mainstream channels of information.
"Limited information may on the occasion lead to the wrong conclusion, it does not require corruption."
No disagreement on this from me... actually quite a good statement.
"And some people are willing to sell themselves for a few pieces of gold, they are the minority."
Initially, I would agree with you, however, once a person has an income from an employer and become dependent upon that job for their own and families survival\comfort, the more likely they are to lie, and go with the employers wishes, rather than risk damaging a career, or losing a job which would require them to adjust to a lower lifestyle.
"Most scientists are in it for the discovery and the glory of their peers. Most would easily give up wealth for the chance at having their names spoken in the same breath as Einstein, Hawkings, Crick, Salk, Pauling and other greats."
Maybe, if they were single or did not care about the lives of their family. I do not know that I can embrace this statement.
"A search through the NLM's database does not reveal any reason to think that properly dosed flouridated water is a safety concern. Again this is one of those internet rumors that has spread like a supercharged meme, they don't have to have evidence. They just need to 'feel' true"
Okay, so the people I know with Dental Fluorosis are imagining the fluoride damage to thier mouths... hmmmm. I am sorry you feel it is a rumor.
"It is also difficult to change the focus of the research midstroke, you risk losing all the work done and invalidating all the future work."
This is true, BUT, if the work is misdirected to begin with, the best thing to do would be to cut your losses and redirect.
