Re: Thank you all who responded to me post .. BUT ..
"... actually, it was more about how *I* feel about leaving him at home :-) I think it's ME that gets the seperation anxiety!"
This made me chuckle. I adopted an adult dog from a rescue. The first day I went to work after he arrived, he barked. I ran back to my apartment . . . Big mistake. It took awhile for him to stop doing that. He's a lot better now. Everytime I go out of town, I'm suffering from anxiety attacks. I ask his sitter to call me everytime she is done with a visit. It isn't for him, its for me. My sitter didn't call me one morning. I freaked and called her.
Samson is fine. He loves the attention the sitter gives him. Does he miss me? Of course, but I think I make more a big deal about it than he does.
He's alone for 6-8 hours a day. He's mixed with a Newfie and has a "loner" personality. Trust me, he likes his alone time.
Don't worry too much about leaving him.
