Jurplesman, thanks for posting this info about the Hypoglycemic diet. Actually, the candida diet is very, very similar, if not the same, as the hypoglycemic diet.
One angle I'd be careful about is the high rate of protein consumption. It is known that eating large amounts of meat or other animal protein can raise the level of acidity in the body, which is definitely something that an alcoholic doesn't need. As an alternative, if large quantities of protein are to be consumed, then vegetarian sources, such as tofu, nuts, beans, etc. might be better.
I will give the glycerine-in-water trick a try, next time I find myself feeling a craving.
