Re: Monitor turning solid white

Diagnosing the power source is a good troublesooting tactic.

Troubleshooting in general, especially computer problems, especially computer problems that the original vendor/manufacturer is not set up to willingly give the user much devoted help with, is kind of like dart throwing. Even when the vendor/manufacturer does provide help, the main change to the troubleshooting formula is that it is likely to be a bit more educated dart throwing.

Lets hope the problem can be pinpointed to somethig to do with the power & power connections being supplied to the monitor. If that does not work, there is another easy trick to try that will really isolate where the problem is. If you know a friend who has a computer and is willing to help you troubleshoot, ask them if they will allow you to temporarily hook up your monitor to their computer. Maybe you know somebody who works at a computer-related office job surrounded by computers and they are not yet so security-conscious mad that they would be able to take your monitor to work and try it out real quick. This of course requires finding a friend or cohort with a computer that has a video card that supports the connector on your computer..... but if you do this you will very quickly determine if the problem is in your monitor or your computer proper. Since it's almost Thanksgiving, maybe you could find a friend willing to wrap this computer experience around a holiday get together. As an option, you could take the friend's monitor and hook it to your PC and see if the same problem occurs.

Meanwhile, here are some places to get a monitor driver for an HP Pavillion F1905 LCD Monitor.

PS - and try not to pay too much attention to the shiny happy computer people found at these links..... they may have had just a wee bit too much employer sponsored Soma ;)
