Get whole organic flax seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder and add to oatmeal. Grind just enough for the meal, and don;t store any extra. If he is going to sweeten the oatmeal, use a small amount of real maple syrup, not Sugar or artifical sweetners.

The only dairy I recomend is high quality whey protein isolate. Perhaps a very small amount of hormone-free strong-flavored cheese (i.e. parmesean, etc.) in pasta.
