not sure what you mean by "do nothing congress"

they voted to give bush power to declare and illegal war, they raised taxes on the poor and lowered them for the rich, they repealed environmental protections left and right. they did A LOT.

but don't hold your breath waiting for the dems to do anything. nancy pelosi is not much of a leader.
