An alcoholic has more serious problems than you or I can seriously help him with.
1. he needs to get off of the alcohol to get well. Is he willing? Can he stay away from beer, alcohol, for the duration of The Master Cleanse possibly followed by a liver cleanse than another master cleanse or a parasite cleanse following the liver cleanse than a master cleanse.
if he's not a diabetic he can use the pure maple syrup class B or C are the best (this will also help him during his fight to get alcohol out of his body) If anything I would encourage him to drink
2. half his weight in ounces of water a day before alcohol and if he has a drink add 24 oz of water for a 12 ounce can or bottle of beer. so if he weight 128lb he would need 1/2 gallon of water + 24 extra ounces for every beer he drinks.
3. The Master Cleanse would clean out all of his organs and give his digestive tract time to rest and heal. People have stayed on this fast as long as 60 days and took 30 days to break the fast.(if on 12 days need 6 days to properly break it)
4. The liver and gaul bladder stores stones, than need to be eliminated There are liver fast and gaul bladder fast and parasite fast. Please check these out also.
If he's willing to try them, he may have a chance at a better life and better health.
Your could suggest, you could guide, but he will have to want this for himself and if he does, he will have to follow this correctly to help himself. That's the big word HIMSELF. Only he can do this, you can't as much as you want to, you can do it ONLY HE CAN.
