Would a food diary help?

Have you kept a food diary when you have these outbreaks? My fever blisters, a herpes virus outbreak, come about when I eat certain foods high in arginine. Referenced from Wikpedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arginine

"Arginine is found in chocolate, wheat germ and flour, buckwheat, granola, oatmeal, dairy products (cottage cheese, ricotta, nonfat dry milk, skim yogurt), beef (roasts, steaks), pork (Canadian bacon, ham), nuts (coconut, pecans, cashews, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, peanuts), seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower), poultry (chicken and turkey light meat), wild game (pheasant, quail), seafood (halibut, lobster, salmon, shrimp, snails, tuna in water), chick peas, and cooked soybeans."

Sometimes when I indulge in one of these, I take about 1 to 1 1/2 gm L-lysine. Popcorn and any other kind of corn causes outbreaks for me. Sometimes when I eat peanut butter, I will have an outbreak within a few hours. As you can see from the list, it's quite possible to consume more arginine than your body can balance in its struggle with the herpes virus. Of course, the medications and ointments help tremendously when those painful eruptions occur.
