I am so sorry that your Aunt had to go through all that. It is truly horrible to watch a loved family member suffer. My condolences. People "hang on" for longer than they *should* some times.....I mean they have pain, and the family members see it.....and the one suffering kind of doesn't want to "leave" their family....and of course the family does not want their loved one to "leave" either. It ends up being a really hard place for all involved. Kind of a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. All I can think of when a loved one goes to the other side, after suffering with any kind of illness, when there is no more hope............. is that they are no longer in pain any more. They have been released. We even some times need to tell them that they are free to go.
