Re: Men and abortion

But feminism is not "new wave". It's been around for quite awhile. It is the most acceptable word ("ism" and all) to describe it's intention. It's not intended to devalue men, it's intended to elevate women. My feminism is awareness of injustice towards women, not just by men, by the whole social and political climate. Perhaps it's because I've been around for awhile, and I have just stopped romanticizing the relationship between the genders.

Certainly, no one would suggest that all men are the same. I am personally, and intimately acquainted with many great men.

But, with complete certainty, I can say that it is only women who have female parts, and childbirth ability.

Women naturally promote family. That is what we do, and our instincts are strong. However, our instincts are not strong when it comes to self-promotion, or challenging the male dominated status quo. That's when we dearly need the "ism". Without a sense of this, we would be overwhelmed by the powers that be.

Perhaps, it's depressing the "maternal instinct" to fight the injustice, that men take for anger. Men are so used to us being the caretakers, it really intimidates them when we are not acting in this role. That's why this "ism" that causes women to be strong, and take charge, has been called so many bad names.

It's a woman thing, hard to describe to even the most enlightened man.
