Firstly, I really hope when you say Atkins, that you're leaning for the low carb veggies and fruits and lean protein and NOT for the high fat processed red meat options. If you are, I'd suggest getting away from it as soon as possible. It overtaxes your digestive system, and all red meat products(from beef to package sausage) has a great deal of toxins. Even chicken in too large of amounts is hazardous with the hormones.
Water fasting can help you lose weight especially _if_ you are heavily loaded with toxins or if you have really overstressed your digestive system(I did it with mono eating foods in college and developed candida). I think Anne Gittleman published alot of material of why flushing (which is where the title fat flushing came from) toxins can help the body lose weight much faster and healthier. Basically, your body will store toxins in fat to keep them from floating through your body and wreaking havoc, will pick up xeno-estrogens(like chlorine and others) if there isn't enough estrogen and dietary plant estrogens, and all sorts of not so fun stuff.
I'd actually really recommend
Water Fasting to you over juice fasting as juice fasting would shock your body with a lot of carbs.
Water Fasting would help your digestive system catch up again, basically hitting the reset button. Once your digestive system was in tip-top shape, losing weight and keeping it off would be much much easier. And it'd then be easier to reintroduce more carbs without upsetting your body.
