I'm not disputing any of this. I'm wondering why you think fruits and vegetables are "safe" after only a washing and that they can't be just as contaminiated from the inside(although from different chemicals of course).>>

What chemicals inside? Are you daft? I suppose you could get hit by lightning while picking the fruit or vegetable also. I didn't say it made you bullet proof. If you consider that ecoli is animal related to begin with and the governmental protection systems are failing in protecting the consumer that eat those animals, then you can surmise that eating no meat (vegetarianism) is safer. That's not rocket science, I think they call it logic.
