I think that a Water Fast is primarily a tool to detox, not to lose weight. If you do not need to lose weight, you still can waterfast. You may lose some weight as a side effect but you'll regain it when you resume eating. Also, it may be safer for a person who isn't overweight to fast as he/she probably does not have as much toxins accumulated in his/her fat.
