Re: wow!

Hi Sofia! I've done 18 liver flushes. I started doing them even before I began following Andreas advice. I really believe in liver flushes!

In a way it was hard because I was used to making dinner with meat and either rice or potatoes and two vegetables for dinner and I've done it that way for thirty years! But my husband nearly died and so he was very motivated to change. That made it easier for me because instead of a picky eater who was suspicious of trying anything new, I suddenly had a consumer who was willing to try new foods and eat whatever I put in front of him.

I had been studying curezone and reading a lot about health and nutrition for several years and I was already applying a lot of it to my own diet. I found a source ( http://www.realmilk.com/where1.html ) for raw dairy and grassfed meats so we still ate dairy and some meats.

I never told him, "We're going vegetarian and No More Meat!" I just started cutting back, like if I made chicken noodle soup I'd only put in a few pieces of chicken. (Then I started making it the Campbells way, where you just wave a chicken over the pot, lol) And instead of spaghetti sauce with a pound of meat in it, I'd make it with a quarter pound of meat, and then later with no meat. And instead of cooking us each a chicken breast, I would split one breast horizontally and make thin cutlets, then I would pound the cutlets paper thin till I could make three meals out of one breast.

I gradually started making more and more vegetarian dishes like stir frys and casseroles with little or no meat. The funny thing is he never noticed we weren't eating hardly any meat!

I also started looking for low carb vegetarian recipes. I found http://www.recipezaar.com/ and http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ll and http://www.lowcarb.ca/recipes.html and http://www.suzannesomers.com/Community/ and I put together a cookbook full of recipes that inspired me.

So, I didn't do it all at once. I studied a lot and made gradual changes for a couple of years. Then luckily my husband had a heart attack (we've only been married 3 years so it wasn't from my cooking!) and we were all of a sudden motivated to give up the grains and lose the weight. Having a heart attack was the best thing that ever happened to him because it made him WANT to get healthy. He gave up grains and Sugar and his beloved deli sandwiches and was grateful to do it!

The last thing that made a big difference for me was Andreas' advice about how my empty stomach was only as big as my fist and when I ate large meals I was stretching it out and impairing my digestion. I realized I was eating too much food at one time AND I was also eating too fast. Now I eat slower, I chew more, and I pay attention to my food.

You're right, when you take away grains and meat and dairy, what's left is just fruits and vegetables. But I make them taste so good I like eating them! I use the best organic food I can find. No canned or frozen vegetables. I use himalayan salt, and herbs and spices and plenty of butter and olive oil and coconut oil. I bought a microplane (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004S7VJ/qid=1142275644/sr=1-3/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-8413760-0579215?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=home-garden&v=glance&n=1055398 ) and add a little grated cheese over some dishes.

And too, we lost the weight and are healthy so now we do eat some whole grains again. We still eat mostly vegetables. Go ahead and get Andreas' book, it's the best investment I've ever made! I mainly just followed his advice and temporarily gave up grains too.

Hope some of this is useful to you :)
