Re: golddigger's blues.

I think this is somewhat harsh. There exists a prevalent mentality that thinks women should be housewives and mothers and not have the freedom to persue a career and earn their own money and be independent. If they work, they are a bad mother, if they stay home and do the scut work for free, they are a parasite. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If women should be unpaid domestic servants, you can't blame them for seeking money elsewhere, what do you expect them to live on? I've always felt that mothers should be paid the highest salary of all. Look at what a baseball player makes for doing nothing. A mother has the hardest, most important job in the world yet gets nothing. Be glad you are male and have the freedom to do as you wish.

Not that I think marrying for money is a good idea. It gives the spouse with the money too much power. He already sounds disrespectful to you. Better to marry for love, and earn the money yourself. Find someone who considers you an equal, and treats you and your children with kindness and respect.

Your desire to sacrifice yourself so your children can have a good life is commendable.
