Re: After 8 cleanses even healthy fat still makes me sluggish
Hi
One of the problems with a very high carbohydrate diet is that many high carbo foods, especially wheat and corn have a sedative effect on the body almost like a mild narcotic. Some people believe that this is why people crave carbos when upset or stressed. This may be why sometimes people on a ‘high energy’ high carbohydrate diet do not find they have the energy they expect.
My opinion is that a raw or mainly raw diet gives the most energy as the body does not have to divert so much energy to the digestive system as raw foods already contain many of the enzymes needed for digestion. Also, the fact that the molecular structure of food is altered when it is cooked means that (according to many proponents of raw food diets) the body does not immediately recognise cooked food as food, resulting in an increase of white cells in the blood and increased strain on the system.
As with all diets, it is important to make sure it is balanced and includes some nuts, seeds and fresh oils, which most people seem to tolerate well when on this type of diet. Also, food combining even on a raw diet seems to help those with sensitive digestion.
Anyway, I wish you all the very best of luck whatever you decide.
