Soy Alert!
Here is one of my "old" posts about Soy;

SOY FOODS CONTAIN HIGH LEVELS OF ALUMINUM WHICH IS TOXIC TO THE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND THE KIDNEYS.
FREE GLUTAMIC ACID OR MSG, A POTENT NEUROTOXIN, IS FORMED DURING SOY FOOD PROCESSING AND ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS ARE ADDED TO MANY SOY FOODS.
PROCESSING OF SOY PROTEIN RESULTS IN THE FORMATION OF TOXIC LYSINOLANINE AND HIGHLY CARCINOGENIC NITROSAMINES.
There are many reasons for why to stop SOY-BEAN-FOOD.
I personally produced a lot of soy-foods like TOFU, TEMPEH,
NATTO and also okara-cakes / burgers, as well as soy-milk.
And of course TAMARI, SHOYU and MISO.
After more than 10 years on soy-products I simply stopped all
soy-products. I never consumed soy-milk or soy-formulas as baby
or infant food, is absolutely not to recommend. It is true that raw goat-milk is a nice food to give children. Cow`s milk should not be given before children are 7 YEARS OLD (more about this is coming up in forum pregnancy/birth/nursing.

MYTHS and TRUTHS about soy. Some examples her:
Myth: Use of soy as a food dates back many thousands of years.
Truth: Soy was first used as a food during the late Chou dynasty (1134-246 BC), only after the Chinese learned to ferment soy beans to make foods like tempeh, natto and tamari.
******************
Myth: Asians consume large amounts of soy foods.
Truth: Average consumptions of soy foods in Japan and China
is 10 grams (about 2 teaspoons) per day. Asians consume
soy foods in small amounts as a condiment, and not as a
replacement for animal foods.
******************
Myth: Modern soy foods confer the same health benefits
as traditionally fermented soy foods.
Truth: Most modern soy foods ar not fermented to neutralize toxins in soybeans, and are processed in a way that denatures proteins and increases levels of carcinogens.
THIS IS THE REASON WHY I STOPPED SOY; BUT I SILL USE MISO;
OCCACIONALLY TAMARI OR SHOYU (BOILED), AND TEMPEH. THEESE FOODS ARE ALL FERMENTED, AND IS MORE "SAFE" AND TASTY! MISO IS THE VERY BEST; IT HAS A BLOOD-CLEANSING EFFECT, IT IS VERY BENEFICIAL FOR INTESTINAL FLORA. A VEGETABLE / MISO-SOUP IN THE MORNING
IS CLEANSING, WARMING AND HEALTY. BE SHURE THAT YOU CHOOSE PRODCTUS OF ORGNICALLY GROWN QUALITY!!! DO NOT CHOOSE
Genetically-Modified-Organisms (GENMANIPULATED PRODUCTS)!!!
BUT TO CHOSE FOOD WITH A GOOD SENSE IS NEEDED. IF YOU EAT MISO EVERY DAY FOR 10 YEARS TWICE A DAY, IT MIGHT NOT BE VERY HEALTY OR CLEANSING FOR YOU ANYMORE. REMEMBER MISO SHOULD NOT BE EATEN RAW.
IT SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE SOUP AT THE VERY END OF COOKING TIME, LEFT TO DISSOLVE ABOUT 10 MINUTES. STIR ONE TEA-SPOON OF MISO-PASTE WITH
ONE CUP OF SOUP-STOCK. SHOYU OR TAMARI, SHOULD ALSO NOT BE EATEN RAW, IF YOU SERVE SUSHI, IT IS BETTER TO BOIL THE SHOYU, AND LET IT COOL BEFORE YOU SERVE IT.
ESPECIALLY BLOOD-TYPE A AND AB FEEL VERY GOOD ON MISO FOR A LONG TIME. WHILE O AND B-TYPES MIGHT NOT FEEL THE SAME. BUT WE ARE MUCH MORE THAN A BLOOD-TYPE; WE HAVE TO TRY OUT AND FIND OUT THE BEST BENEFICIAL DIET FOR OURSELVES!
Myth: Soy foods provide complete protein.
Truth: Like all legumes, soy beans are deficient in sulfur-containing amino acids methionine and cystine. In addition,
modern processing denatures fragile lysine.
I USUALLY RECOMMEND OTHER KIND OF BEANS; THE MOST HEALTY AND MEDICAL BEANS ARE JAPANESE HOKKAIDO BLACK BEANS AND HOKKAIDO ADUKI-BEANS, OR ORGANIC THE VERY SMALL BROWN LENTILS OR CHICK-PEAS.
VERY HEALTY AND TASTY, BUT THEY HAVE TO SOAK AND COOK IN THE RIGHT WAY TO BECOME DIGESTIBLE. (SEE LILLIAN`S RECEPES-SECTION COMING UP SOON). I USUALLY ALSO RECOMMEND TO EAT NUTS, SEEDS OR NUTPASTE IN THE SAME MEAL AS BEANS TO COMPLETE PROTEINS.

Myth: Soy formula is safe for infants.
Truth: Soy foods contain trypsin inhibitors that inhibit protein digestion and affect pancreatic function. In test animals, diets high in trypsin inhibitors led to stunted growth and pancreatic disorders.
Soy foods increase the body`s requirement for vitamin D, needed for strong bones&teeth (calcium) and normal growth. Phytic acid in soy foods results in reduced bioavailabilty of iron and zinc which are required for the health and development of the brain and nervous system.
Megadoses of phytoestrogens in soy formula have been implicated int he current trend toward increasingly premature sexual developement in girls and delayed or retarded sexual development in boys.
****************
Myth: Soy estrogens (isoflavones) are good for you.
Truth: Soy isoflavones are phyto-endocrine disrupters. At dietary levels, they can prevent ovulation and stimulate the growth of cancer cells. As little as 4 tablespoons of soy per day can result in HYPOTHYROIDISM with symptoms of lethargy, constipation, weight gain and FATIQUE.
****************
Myth: Fermented soy foods can provide vitamin B12 in
vegetarian diets.
Truth: The compound that resembles vitamin B12 in soy, cannot
be used by the human body; in fact, soy foods cause the body
to require more B12.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD IF TEMPEH IS PRODUCED WRAPPED IN WINE-LEAVES; OR RUBARB-LEAVES; IT COULD AVOID THIS EFFECT, AND WOULD CONTAIN USEFUL B12; BUT I HAVE ONLY HEARD THIS, DONT KNOW THE SOURCE!!
Myth: Soy foods are good for your sex life.
Truth: Numerous animal studies show that soy foods cause infertility in animals. Soy consumption enhances hair growth in middle-aged men, indicating lowered testosterone levels.
TOFU was consumed by Buddhist monks to redusce libido.
SOY-MILK AND TOFU ARE ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID FOR MEN WHO WANTS TO IMPROVE THEIR LIBIDO!!
