Re: Please can anyone give help on eczema, I am so lost...
Louise,
I experienced exactly what you describe when I was 26, I'm now 38. I have dry skin. One hot summer, I found the best thing to sleep on was a synthetic leather sofa after putting on my lotions, that way I had occlusion while I slept. Occlusion is where they tell you to lotion yourself up and wrap cellophane around your body, which always falls off.
I also smoked like a fiend and drank mochas every day and popped Sudafed. It helped. If you are truly going crazy and nothing is helping and its never been worse, then I'll bet your regular ezcema has been infected with the staph virus, in which case you can take 8 hot showers a day and your skin will still feel like cardboard. You should just take a short course of prednisone and
Antibiotics to get rid of the infection, then switch ASAP to the habits you describe.
I also suggest looking into staying over at a hotel or somewhere where clean and old with natural wood walls/floors for a few days, it may be your own room is too dusty and dirty or the dry wall or ceiling tile or paint may be affecting you.
Try drinking a glass of red wine a day to see if it makes you relax and feel less itchy and stressed out, try hypnosis, try acupuncture, try a daily exercise like playing tennis or running followed by a cold shower....anything to exhaust you and distract you from itching....
Good luck, I would be interested in knowing if any of your new age cleanses like bowel cleansing works - I am a great skeptic of those things, especially as they are inevitably recommended by people who've never had severe eczema before...
