Re: Please can anyone give help on eczema, I am so lost...

Hello Louise,

Please forgive the delay in response time.

Due to your allergies to airborne allergens like pollen, an air purifier system in your home would probably be of great benefit to you. Finding the right one will be key. There are a vast amount of air purifier systems on the market. Checking out the Sharper Image website and viewing the Ionic Breeze comparison points will give you more insight as to what to look for in a good system. This may not necessarily be the system that you choose; however it provides information regarding air purifier systems that a novice may want to consider before making a purchase.

Your steroid treatments over the years have definitely hindered and prolonged your body's healing process. Now that you've stopped the use of steroid medications, the healing can begin. However, like the steroids, the Zyrtec is a symptom suppressor; and therefore, is not addressing the core root of the problem. Hopefully it is not hindering your healing process. You are probably the best person to make that judgement.

It seems that the best things done for, and towards, your good health have been initiated and implemented by you. I know that you are anxious for results; and I get a sense that you are not feeling very optimistic about your recent efforts. I encourage you not to give up on this. Your hypothesis regarding "toxins coming out" is most probably correct. Toxins find their way of release out of the body through the urine, bowel movements, and the skin. What you want to do is find comfort through the healing process that will promote the healing; as opposed to suppressing the symptoms, which compromises the healing process. At your local health store, you may be able to find a talc-free, anti-itch powder to help soothe the skin through the process as well.

Are you staying away from the eggs, dairy, peanuts, and wheat because you've found yourself to be allergic or because they are on a general list of "foods to stay away from" on most eczema references? Realizing what is being taken from the body when taking away these particular food items, you get an understanding of the importance of supplementing your diet with a good multivitamin. Eggs provide protein. Peanuts are a complete protein that contain the vitamins B-1, B-3, B-5, biotin, choline, the mineral magnesium and Omega 9 essential fatty acid. Milk provides vitamin D and calcium. Yogurt contains live cultures called acidophilus (helpful bacteria) that aide the body in fighting toxins. Wheat is high in magnesium, an essential mineral. It is a good step that you are supplementing your diet with a good multivitamin to account for any deficiencies. This is also why I think that one of the most beneficial doctors for eczema sufferers is a good nutritionist. They could also be of great benefit in the cleansing process.

Speaking of cleansing, addressing constipation issues is definitely worth attention. The connection between constipation and an eruption of severe (total body) eczema flareups in my nieces didn't go unnoticed with me. Although the physicians never addressed the connection, I knew that my nieces' skin eruptions were a result of the constipation, which resulted in a release of toxins through the skin, instead of through the bowels as a result of the constipation. This was a determining factor in finding the right baby formula for my nieces. As soon as we found a formula that promoted regular bowel flow, the healing was able to go forth speedily.

In summary, I feel that you have already taken many of the major steps needed to promote your healing. The only thing lacking was a means of addressing the foreign culprits (airborne allergens) that were negatively impacting your environment (in particular, your home environment). Regarding that and in addition to an air purifier system; if your bedroom is carpeted, you may want to consider changing it out for cork or hardwood floors. Finding a good nutritionist to aide you in the process of cleansing and in providing you with the knowledge of the nutritional needs of the body and what food or drink provide those nutrients, may be worth your consideration as well. It was our (my family's) own personal initiative that brought about my nieces healing. Fighting our way through the physicians lack of enthusiasm, optimism, and knowledge in this area is not new. We initiated, implemented and achieved success on our own. I let you know this to say this, "fighting for your health in the case of eczema is not unusual; however success can, indeed, be achieved".
