Re: The Ten Commandments WAS the "law".
Psalms 84:11 - For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Proverbs 28:18 - Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
Proverbs 2:7 - He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
God is looking for us to certainly be walking uprightly in Him, all the choices and decisions we make in this life are to be and should be made to please our Heavenly Father, we are saved by Grace alone, there is nothing we can do to save ourselves, Jesus paid it all, and God is looking for us to be making decisions in our lives that will be pleasing to him, and as it says in the first verse shown he will not with hold no good thing and he will give grace when we do walk uprightly in him.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
If we walk in the flesh, then we are condemed, and are judged according to the law, but if we walk in the Spirit, we are then following in the footsteps of Christ in fullfilling what he requires of us, to love as he loves, which causes us to keep His commandments, which pleases God
First John 3:18- My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Love comes from the heart, God looks on the heart of man, he knows our innermost being, when Jesus was asked by the rich young ruler what he had to do to receive eternal life, Jesus told him to keep the commandments of God,and the ruler said he had all his life, living under the law, he was missing one thing and that was faith, for Jesus said sell all that thou hast and give to the poor and to follow Him, it became a matter of the HEART, he was keeping the commandments by walking in the flesh, and now Jesus was expanding on what he had told him about keeping the commandments, but to do it by faith in the Spirit. God is so Awsome
