I am not a cessationist. I've already said that prophecy is one of the gifts of the Spirit to the church. If you had read any of my other posts before responding you would not have jumped to such a wild conclusion.
The Bible itself says that prophets MUST be perfect, the references of which I already gave. Anyone who claims to speak for God as an authoritative prophet MUST be 100% accurate or that person is a liar. That's what the Bible says. I never claimed that the OT prophets never said anything 'off the record' or that they were somehow not human.
The big issue here is Mormonism's claim to have a "true and living Prophet" who can make pronouncements IN GOD'S NAME that contradict the Bible. Their own writings admit this, if you would just go to the trouble to read the links I provided earlier. Joseph Smith himself, as many other false prophets have done, claimed the written Word was corrupt and mistranslated. Real prophets would never say that.
