Re: On the flip side....
Hi Alikat,
Although I disagree somewhat with your assessment of the article posted by R2R, I greatly respect your thoughts on this subject. I am in agreement with much of what you have said. I believe Ray Comfort has a wonderful ministry with many effective evangelistic techniques. On his site you will find that he actually speaks out against ‘hell-fire’ preaching without the careful and loving use of the Law of God. The Law can be effectively used as a mirror to convict the heart of its need for a Savior. Ray does a great job of teaching this method.
Virtually everyone who publicly affirms or teaches about the wrath of God is now carefully painted by some people as a caricature of a rabid, hateful, vindictive, mentally imbalanced person. This is no accident. Among those who reject the whole council of the Bible, one dominant strategy is to attack the messengers of God’s Word. The ‘hate card’, or the ‘intolerant card’ or the ‘judgmental card’ is often quickly played in response to verses that clearly describe the wrath of God. In some places such as Canada, some portions of the Bible are now considered ‘hate’ speech. This has been a major victory for those who deny the whole council of God’s Word. We are living in interesting times.
When you have some time, consider this article by Martyn Lloyd Jones. MLJ is one of my favorite writers. In this article he presents an intelligent, reasoned, Biblical approach to Godly justice. It’s a somewhat lengthy read, but I believe you will be blessed for your efforts.
As always, I greatly respect your views on these matters.
