Re: Questions

Hi Dave,

I have suffered from MCS for a number of years now but have always been convinced that it wasn't here to stay. I believe the body has the capacity to heal itself completely from any illness or disease, given the right environment. At my worst, I had to wear a mask in public places because I just couldn't tolerate the chemicals in the air. I would get the same spacy feelings you describe, my coordination would go, I'd slur my speech, feel paranoid and quite dizzy etc etc... Exercise would wipe me out - and I now believe that the waste chemicals created by the body during exercise couldn't be broken down effectively by the liver causing the energy (CFS) symptoms I also got.

Over the years I've been learning about natural healing and the biggest step I took was about a year ago - I went to a Spa in Thailand and did a 7 day fast. Although I was already on the raod to health at that point, my health started improving much more quickly and by Christmas my chemical sensitivities had reduced so much that I was able to go out in public places once again - even smokey bars or places where people were wearing perfume (which was a huge step forward after years of having to avoid pubs). By Christmas of last year I was feeling fantastic - my energy levels had also improved dramatically. But despite how good I felt I still knew that there was an underlying problem - I still had food sensitivities and the MCS would still cause problems when the chemical was strong enough. At Christmas I decided to go for it on the detox front - I've learnt that the liver and bowels are key players with this problem (the first thing in my health decline was IBS but I didn't see the link for years) - the liver is where the chemicals are broken down into forms that can't harm us and the bowels are instrumental in helping us eliminate the toxins.

A good step forward for you would be the bowel cleanse, and then liver cleanse. Curezone has some great info on them. Also, you could well have parasites - an added burden on the liver. Since I started the detox at Xmas, I've felt pretty bad again - got all my old symptoms back but this time at least I know that I have some control. And I know that I need to persevere even though it seems I'm going backwards sometimes. If I feel too ill, I cut back on the stuff I'm taking or calm it down on the cleansing front. I did another fast (combined with colemas) a couple of months back and got out a load of worms which confirmed the parasite involvement that I'd suspected. I've started Liver Cleansing - I feel this will be the key to sorting out the MCS long term.

For short term help - Thiodox (Glutathione Complex) by AllergyResearchGroup see www.nutricology.com has always worked very well to bring me out of allergy mode - if I'd been exposed to chemicals. They were my magic pills and although expensive, proved invaluable to me many times. It was a real comfort just having them in my pocket when I was going out anywhere.

Diet and vitamin/mineral supplements do a lot to support the body but on their own they don't seem to provide a good long term help for MCS. I think you need to get to the root cause - which will most likely be connected with your liver and bowels, - clean them up and support them in working as efficiently as they once used to.
I would also recommend getting yourself on a parasite program - especially as you've taken Antibiotics in the past.

I hope this helps - all the best with your healing process!
Tamsin
