Probiotucs after an Appendectomy?

Hi. I recently had my appendix out. I did not know what the appendix was for when it happend, and when I asked the Dr/nurses I was told it didn't do anything. But I've had an uneasy feeling about the appendectomy ever since it happend, so I've been doing research to learn more about the appendix. And it seems that the appendix helps lubricate the colon and produces good bacteria for the gastro-intestinal system. (Ah ha! I knew it had to do something - why else would it be there?) So now I'm looking into probiotics! But I hate pills. So would yogurt with live/active cultures be a good alternative?

thanks!

TJ.

This is the yogurt I like:
