I agree, he was no saint but one doesn’t have to be a saint in order to be a great human being or for us to acknowledge the tireless work he did in his short life for a very noble cause. As for eliminating a president’s holiday, I'm certainly not aware of MLK day replacing any other holiday.

It’s funny that you posted that link because I was reading that yesterday and was just about to post it for you to read, as it shows the conservative line about what King would be for and against today is not very accurate. So the Democrats are not the only ones who have attempted to use the figure of MLK for political gain. Let’s face it politicians, on both sides, will use any tactic to attempt to support what they are in favor of like…”if king were alive he would be for it”, “if George Washington, Lincoln or Jefferson were here they would be for it”, “if Jesus were around he would be in favor of this.” I just think it’s pointless to try to put thoughts in the minds of those who are not here to speak for themselves.
