Re: Perinatal testing.......what do you think..help

Doing a blood test is one thing, but one US will lead to other tests. It is big money for the doctors, believe me.
What will you do with the results??? IS it worth the risks to the baby as the long term effects is unknown. And amniocentesis is not without risk either. You can spontaneously lose the baby too, hemorrhage or get an infection from the test.
With my last pregnancy I did nothing. No testing. I did not want to know, even though I had a history in my family of Trisomy 18. If you find out something, you will spend the rest of the pregnancy worrying. Is that how you want to spend the next several months???
I work in a NICU and occasionally see outcomes that were not predicted on prenatal US's. Nothing is 100% sure.
It is all an experiment on the unborn.
Enjoy your pregnancy and revel in the life growing inside of you.
