For Journ: Response to Celiac Disease Question.
Dear Journ,
Earlier in the week, you asked if
vitamin C could help cure celiac
disease. So I presume that you or
someone close to you, suffers from it.
I couldn't find any specific information in my books about
vitamin C and celiac disease. But I
did find a lot of good information
about celiac disease, and how to
treat it.
Most of the information I'll pass along came from two wonderful books.
HEALING WITH WHOLE FOODS by Paul
Pitchford, and THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF
NATURAL MEDICINE, by Doctors Joseph
Pizzorno and Mike Murray. Both books
serve me as encyclopedias. I heartily recommend you buy one or
the other. An alternative health
encyclopedia is worth its weight in
gold when Something Happens.
As you probably know, if you have
celiac disease, you must go on a
gluten-free diet. No wheat, barley,
triticale, or rye. Also avoid all
milk and milk products (a good idea
for everyone!).
People with celiac disease can't
digest gluten. Why? Because their
pancreas is no longer
producing pancreatic enzymes. Both
books recommend supplementing your
diet with pancreatic enzymes during
the first 30 days after being diagnosed with celiac disease.
According to studies done, the
enzymes are less effective after
the first month.
However, I take enzymes every day.
The enzymes you want for celiac
disease are lipase, amylase, and
protease. I use Mega-Zymes, which
are made by Enzymatic Therapy.
I buy them from Tunies.com
A bottle of 200 tablets is quite
reasonably priced. Mega-Zymes contain the three enzymes you need,
plus 7 digestive enzymes.
If you can totally avoid gluten,
Journ, and supplement with good
enzymes, the celiac disease should
lessen in intensity and perhaps
fade away. The mega-doses of vitamin
C will surely help.
And, yes, you should consider doing
some internal cleanses: colon, liver, and kidneys. They're not hard
to do, and CZ is a great place to
learn about cleanses. If you've been
eating the SAD diet most of your
life, then your 30+ feet of intestine is probably lined with
all kinds of mucoid plaque and toxins.
Keep us posted on what you decide
to do.
Blessings,
Owen
