Atkins and Parasites
Recent studies show that the Atkins/Low Carb diets actually work - but only while you are on them. Most dieters wind up going off the diets and gaining back more than originally lost. Scientists are now speculating that weight is actually lost due to Parasites!
The Atkins diet is known as the Meat/Egg and Cheese diet. Some of the most prevalent visitors to cattle are worms, lice, flukes, flies, mites, and grubs. These visitors actually suppress the cow's appetite!
http://www.pfizer.com/ah/livestock/beef/7_beef.html It is these very same friends that might suppress the dieters appetites. Pfizer states that "Parasitism can be almost impossible to detect with study after study showing lower weight gains in untreated cattle ."
"Internal parasites: brown stomach worms, small intestinal worms, liver flukes, lungworms, eyeworms, nodular worms, barber pole worm, roundworms, large intestinal worms, tapeworms." All sound hungry! The worms live in the stomach, lung or intestines - perfect for weight loss. Disease transmission (including pinkeye) is also an outcome of external
parasite infection. (know anyone on the low carb diet who has had pinkeye?).
So, if you've been on the Atkins or low carb diet but have now stopped it and have regained weight - get back on the beef!
