official medicine- moral issues

Dear Spirit,
My opinion the doctor should not be a salesman even bacause of the oath to help other people they are supposed to give.
And also if I understand correctly the goldbladder stone issue is not only about alternative medicine.
For example yesterday being in shock I called my relatives from the Ukraine (I am naturalized canadian with ukrainian roots)
They contacted immediately their friends doctors (my mom-in-law i.e. worked all her life as a nurse in a hospital).
The first responce of proffesional doctors from a small village and from child hospital in Kiev- SHOCK!
Even in the Ukraine with total corrupt medical system they use very precise ultrasound test to determine size, density of the stones,
also to exclude the possibility that instead of stone there is a specific substance there (I do not know the english version of it- direct
translation from ukrainean- 'clay'). If there are stones they have special machines which cleave the stones. All doctors
asked not to allow the operation- 'DO NOT DESTROY LIFE OF YOUR DAUGHTER'

The question is- 'Why Dr.Chao from CHEO hospital, Ottawa did not inform us about all alternatives which are known for official
medicine, did not inform us about the consequence of the goldbladder removal'? I believe these issues are on the border
of acceptable relationship doctor-patient.
